‘I didn’t realise I was a carer’: Upholding carers rights in practice

The State of Caring 2022 report from Carers UK, based on a survey of around 8,000 carers in England, found that only a quarter had received a carer’s assessment. Research points to a gap between the rights carers have and practice, largely caused by decreased resources. Social workers – and other social care practitioners – have a vital role in upholding rights.
An open access webinar for Carers Rights Day will look at the impact of the caring role on carers and explore the support they need for their wellbeing. We will consider how to enhance the rights-based response to carers within a constrained and pressured context. The webinar will draw on the recently updated Social Work with Carers online resource.
This webinar is aimed at social workers and social work managers, and is also relevant to social care practitioners, occupational therapists and others working in social care.
