Dementia is an overarching term for signs and symptoms that become apparent when someone is affected by specific diseases or conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia or dementia with Lewy bodies. Practitioners in social care have an important role in ensuring that people with dementia and the people close to them receive good support.
